From Ghana to St. Petersburg, Florida

Dominic Oduro is a professional footballer with the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

In 2011, Dominic joined the Manchester City’s youth academy.  Prior to that, he had been with  the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, where he was born.

His playing experience includes the Danish superliga club AGF as well as the FC Vestsjaelland.

Domino moved to the US and joined the Seattle Sounders FC before moving to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC of the United Soccer League.  He is currently signed with the United Soccer Leagues Tampa Bay Rowdies team in Florida.

What skills do you possess that helped you get selected for a professional team?

I just kept working and I had a lot of confidence?

How were you discovered?

I was discovered playing in one of my important games  I played against the LA Galaxy during the Open Cup.

What position do you play?  

Defensive Midfielder

What qualities do you believe are most important as a defensive midfielder?

The ability to build up the plays, connect passes and to tackle.

Were you born in the US or abroad?

I was born in Ghana?

Did you play in the US as a young child or in Ghana?  

Ghana

What advice would you give the serious player who is dedicated to his craft so that he can best position himself to be seen and possibly placed with a professional team?

I will say that they should keep doing the good work they do as a soccer player because you never know who is watching.
